Dalā’il Al-Khayrāt – Collector’s Edition
June 12, 2023
A prodigious deluxe edition of a masterpiece of the Islamic world, presenting an august Arabic facsimile edition alongside an eloquent English translation, as well as a third volume titled Introduction to the Dalā’il.
The authenticity of this work is unrivalled, as Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi brings to this edition half a century of expertise in Islamic studies and Arabic literature. In fact, this edition reflects a five-hundred-year legacy of sacred knowledge in Islam.
This precious collection consists of three books:
1. Dalā’il al-Khayrāt (Arabic text)
The original Arabic text, edited by Shaykh al-Yaqoubi and compared against the oral transmission of the Dalā’il in Marrakech and Fes, as well as verified against some of the finest manuscripts available. It is based on the facsimile edition of the 1305 Istanbul edition, produced by ʿUthmān Nūrī Kāyishzāda, who also produced 106 copies of the Holy Qur’an.
2. Guides to Goodness (English translation)
An English translation that reflects the beauty of the original Arabic and conveys the spirit of its author, Imam al-Jazūlī (may Allah have mercy on him). Both the Arabic and English volumes are lavishly gilded, illuminated, and bound, reflecting the style of classical manuscript tradition of Dalā’il al-Khayrāt.
3. Introduction to the Dalā’il
A study offering deep insight and new discoveries. It includes an overview of the Dalā’il and its treasures, the biography of Imam al-Jazūlī, and guidance on how to recite the Dalā’il. At the end of this volume, Shaykh al-Yaqoubi presents a unique ijāzah (license) to narrate the Dalā’il, connecting the reader spiritually to Imam al-Jazūlī. He presents eight chains of transmission, through scholars of the four Sunni schools of law, spanning from Morocco to Mecca and Medina—presented here together for the first time.
It is worthy to mention that Shaykh al-Yaqoubi spent 55 years of his life reciting the Dalā’il al-Khayrāt, having received it from leading scholars and people of spiritual realization in Damascus, including his father Sayyid Ibrāhīm al-Yaqoubi (d. 1406 / 1985) and Sayyid Makki al-Kittānī (d. 1393 / 1973).
Shaykh al-Yaqoubi has devoted his life to the service of the Dalā’il. He has authored two other Arabic works related to it. The first is a 750-page work titled The Key to Dalā’il al-Khayrāt, which presents a detailed account of the life of Imam al-Jazūlī, his teachers, travels, spiritual journey, and teachings. It also uncovers the sources Imam al-Jazūlī relied upon when composing the Dalā’il, the virtues of its special prayers, and the attention Muslim scholars have given to it across history, in thirty chapters.
The second work is an encyclopedia of the chains of transmission through which the Dalā’il has been passed down in the Muslim world. This work, titled Chains of Blessings, spans over 8,500 pages. Both of these works are scheduled for release in the coming year.
