Manthūr al-Khitāb
Manthūr al-Khitāb
By Imam al-Qushari
With a commentary by shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi
This is an important work on Sufism, edited by sh. al-Yaqoubi according a manuscript he discovered in the Princeton University Library. The author introduced in this book the most important fifty Sufi principles and stations with concise definitions.
The book is followed by a full detailed commentary which sh. al-Yaqoubi wrote after he taught the book in Madrid a few years ago. In this commentary, sh. al-Yaqoubi clarified these definitions and presented their proofs from the Holy Quran and the Sacred Sunna.
The book is coupled with an extensive study on the life of Imam Qushayri that includes a work on his students, a study that was never done before, in which he traced 105 of his students. He also, wrote a biography of Imam al-Qushari’s wife, Fatima, who was a great scholar and woman of Allah, and biographies of his 8 children, who were all great scholars, two of them are women, and biographies of 16 of his grandchildren, all Qushayris, and great scholars and hadith authorities.
This work is a landmark on Sufism, and on the life of Imam al-Qushayri, whose works have impacted every Sufi order and contributed to shaping Sunni tasawwuf as we have it today.
